Mitchells Fold Stone Circle

A Bronze Age stone circle, the focus of many legends. Located near Chirbury in Shropshire, 16 miles SW of Shrewsbury. Set in dramatic moorland on Stapeley Hill it once consisted of some 30 stones, 15 of which are still visible. The tallest stone is just short of two metres high. The circle is perched on a flat shelf between Corndon Hill to the south and Stapeley Hill to the north-east, Mitchells Fold offers panoramic views towards Wales to the west.  Nearby to the east were recorded three standing stones - Druid's Castle, and to the south, a ruined circle just within Powys - The Whetstones.

Below are a selection of photographs from my visit there.
