Beautiful Days Festival - August 2003

The Levellers decided to put on their own festival, it nearly happened in 2002 but for reasons I now cannot remember it didn't go ahead. So 2003 saw the first ever Beautiful Days festival. I applied to work there as being a massive Levellers fan I really wanted to be part of the festival. I was offered a place as a steward and so I drove down on the Friday morning to become a part of something new!

A beautiful site in Devon greeted me and was to be the home of Beautiful Days. I worked a couple of 6 hour shifts over the weekend which were easy and enjoyable. It also meant plenty of time to meet lots of new people and see some bands. Special mention to the band The Riffs who I spent a lot of time with over the weekend and who played a great ska set.

Lee Scratch Perry headlined on the Saturday night and The Levellers headlined on the Sunday night. Drunk in Public, their acoustic outfit with Rev Hammer played of course! Also there was lots of strangeness, it wouldn't be a festival if there wasn't strangeness!

I didn't take any photos, here's a few random ones I found online when I got home.
